What’s Blooming at Bloom Harvest | Late May in Southeastern CT
The farm is waking up in the most beautiful way—and we can finally say flower season is truly here.
Right now in East Lyme, our ranunculus are just beginning their first big flush. These ruffled blooms are a spring favorite for good reason— they are long-lasting, and endlessly photogenic!!
Up next? Peonies. Their buds are swelling fast, and I check them every single time I walk by. We’re expecting the first harvest within the week… and, let’s be honest, they’ll probably all bloom at once. Since we’re just starting to plan our walk-in cooler, we will be in a mad rush to sell them!
This time of year—between spring and early summer—there’s often a brief lull in blooms as early flowers fade and summer staples like zinnias and dahlias grow in. But who knows? I started a bunch of dahlias indoors this year, and a few already have buds!
